Chat With Ex-Jayhawk Metcalf Friday

Former Jayhawk and current Texas Rangers third baseman Travis Metcalf will participate in a live chat on texasrangers.com Friday beginning at 3 p.m.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Metcalf had his first Major League hit last Thursday — a sixth-inning home run in the 6-0 win over the Pirates. The Rangers recalled Metcalf from Double-A Frisco on June 10. He had a brief stint, two games, with the Rangers earlier this season.

Metcalf hit .283 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs in 54 games for Frisco.

The Wamago, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kan., native holds the KU single-season and career records for home runs. In three seasons (2002-04) with the Jayhawks, Metcalf hit .284 with 141 hits and 29 home runs.
