Two Signees Win at Nike Outdoor Nationals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track & field signees Andrea Geubelle and Heather Bergmann came up with three wins in two events this weekend at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.

Geubelle was victorious in both the long jump and the triple jump at the Nike meet. A product of Curtis Senior High School in University Place, Wash., Geubelle jumped 6.11 meters (20-00.50 feet) to win the long jump and recorded a mark of 13.06 meters (42-10.25 feet) to take home the triple jump title.

Bergmann, from Concordia High School in Concordia, Kan., won the javelin championship with a throw of 47.90 meters (157-02 feet). Last week, Bergmann was named the 2008-09 Gatorade Kansas girls track and field athlete of the year. Bergmann won the javelin at this year’s Kansas outdoor state championships with a throw of 49.58 meters (162-08 feet).
