Clark Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

LAWRENCE, Kan. — University of Kansas track and field senior Kim Clark was named to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-America Team, CoSIDA announced Wednesday.

The Elkhorn, Neb., native received first team honors in the university division of women’s cross-country and track and field by earning a perfect 4.00 grade point average. Clark, a biochemistry major, earned an NCAA postgraduate scholarship in May for her hard work on the track and in the classroom.

To qualify for the All-America Team, a student-athlete must have an overall grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale). The student-athlete must be a prominent member of the team and have participated in at least half of the team’s contests.

Clark, who also earned 2004 Academic All-American accolades, holds the University of Kansas record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:20.38. She was the Big 12 Indoor Champion in the 600 in 2003, and also ranks second all-time at KU with a mark of 2:07.13 in the outdoor 800-meter run.
