June 24, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Lori Williams, director of academic review at the NCAA Eligibility Center, has been named Associate Athletics Director, Risk Management, for Kansas Athletics. Williams will work with department- and university-wide constituents to ensure effective processes among areas impacted by risk management, including compliance, student services and academic support.

“Lori helped develop and manage the NCAA Eligibility Center’s risk management program,” said KU Athletics Director Lew Perkins. “I look forward to her doing the same for us. She will oversee the development and implementation of strategies for operating in an effective and efficient manner in regards to risk management. And because of her extensive background in eligibility and certification, Lori will be working very closely with our compliance staff on a daily basis.”

Perkins said Williams will also create an ongoing evaluation and reporting process that will assess identified areas of risk.

Williams has served in several roles at the NCAA since 2000, including Associate Director of Enforcement and Director of Membership Services. Prior to that she was Assistant Director of Compliance and legal assistant to the Associate Commissioner at the Big 12 Conference.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Baylor University, and then graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law.
