Kansas Athletics Wins Gold Medal For Revenue-Generating Idea

June 24, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics won the gold medal for Best New Revenue-Generating Idea in 2008-09 at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators’ annual convention last week.

Kansas won for its Touchdown Club seating at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium. To capitalize on a previously unused open space in the south end zone, Kansas Athletics created an exclusive luxury seating and hospitality club at home football games.

The Club offers fans an experience unlike any other in college or pro football. Members receive amenities such as a private upscale buffet, wait staff service and private restrooms. The area includes 84 luxury Jayhawk recliners and 33 flat-screen LCD televisions. It also includes 28 “SportStools” that provided fans a less-expensive option.

Seats were sold on both a single-game and season basis and sold out for the 2008 season. Season tickets cost $2,500 for recliners and $1,500 for SportsStools, while individual game tickets ranged from $200-$450 per game.

The Touchdown Club is already sold out for the 2009 season.
