Jayhawks in Summer Leagues Update

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Sixteen returning Jayhawks have laid their Crimson and Blue jerseys aside for a few months in order to participate in summer baseball leagues. Spread throughout the country, many of these leagues began in June and will play through the middle of August. During the summer, kuathletics.com will check in with these players periodically.
Sophomore catcher Nate Arnold is playing for the Chillocothe Mudcats of the MINK Collegiate League this summer. In 21 games, Arnold is batting .234 with 12 RBIs and seven runs scored.
Senior catcher Alex DeLeon is playing for the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate League. DeLeon has collected 12 hits in 10 games with five doubles, two home runs, five RBIs and 10 runs scored. He holds a .343 batting average with a .657 slugging percentage and a .477 on-base percentage.
Senior infielder Jordan Dreiling is playing for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League. Dreiling is batting .232 in 20 games played, but has recorded a .372 on-base percentage with eight runs scored.
Junior infielder Ka’iana Eldredge is playing for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In six games, Eldredge has had two hits, including a three-run homer. He is tied for second on the team in RBIs with six.
Junior catcher Tom Hougland is playing for the Walker Transmission this summer. Hougland is batting .370 in 13 games played with three doubles and four RBIs. He has recorded a .481 slugging percentage along with a .500 on-base percentage.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Robert Kahana is pitching for the Oahu Paddlers of the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League this summer. Kahana has made two starts for the Paddlers and is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA. In 10 innings pitched, he has allowed 11 hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Sophomore infielder Joey Luvisi is playing for the AZ Pro of the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League this summer. Statistics are currently unavailable.
Senior left-handed pitcher Jordan Luvisi is pitching with the AZ Pro of the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League this summer. Statistics are currently unavailable.
Sophomore outfielder Connor McKay is playing for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate League this summer. McKay has played in all 14 of the Blue Sox’s games and is batting .302 with four doubles and a homer. He holds a team-best 11 runs scored with three stolen bases.
Sophomore outfielder Joe Moroney is playing for the Neptune Beach Pearl of the Far West Baseball League this summer. Moroney is batting .323 in 10 games played for the Pearls. His 10 hits include two doubles, a triple and three RBIs.
Sophomore infielder Justin Protacio is playing for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League. In 19 games, Protacio is batting .200, but has recorded a .420 on-base percentage with a team-best 17 walks. He has crossed the plate 12 times for the Honkers.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Rappaport is pitching for the Oahu Paddlers of the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League this summer. Rappaport has appeared in two games this season striking out seven batters and allowing six hits.
Sophomore outfielder Dakota Smith is also playing with the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League. Smith holds team-best statistics with 30 hits, five doubles, two triples, 19 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 23 games played. He is batting .337 with a .539 slugging percentage.
Sophomore outfielder Michael Suiter is playing for the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League this summer. Suiter holds a .368 batting average in 21 games played. He has 28 hits with 14 runs scored, four doubles and team-best statistics of four home runs and 20 RBIs. Suitor has posted a .579 slugging percentage with a .484 on-base percentage. He has been named Northwoods League Player of the Night twice already this summer.
Junior outfielder Tucker Tharp is playing for the San Diego Waves of the West Coast Baseball League this summer. Tharp has played in six games for the Waves and has a double, a home run and a .353 batting average. He also has a .588 slugging percentage with four runs scored and four RBIs.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Colin Toalson is pitching for the Oahu Paddlers of the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League this summer. Toalson has appeared in two games pitching seven innings, striking out six batters and posting a 2.57 ERA.
