KU's Clark In Third At K.C. Women's Golf Amateur

June 26, 2010

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas golfer Jennifer Clark is in third place, one shot off the lead, after the first round of the Women’s Amateur of Kansas City Golf Championship. The event will conclude with one round on Sunday at Swope Memorial Golf Course.

Clark fired a two-over par 74 in the opening round Saturday to put herself just one shot back of Mary Kate Bird and Rachel Halloran, who both shot 73s.

Clark started slowly carding bogeys on three of the first four holes. She birdied number seven and number 10 and was just one over par through her first 16 holes of the day. She recorded a bogey on 17 before making par on 18 to close at 74.

Clark, a Kansas City, Kan. native, is a senior-to-be for the Jayhawks. This past season she was fourth on the team in scoring average at 78.77. In early June she played well enough to be an alternate for the Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
