KU's Meghan Potee Claims Indiana Women's Open Golf Title

CAMBY, Ind. – Kansas sophomore-to-be Meghan Potee won the Indiana Women’s Golf Open edging a pair of professionals by two shots in the two-round tournament, which concluded Tuesday.

Potee, who is from Noblesville, Ind., opened the event with a 74 and was tied for fourth place, two shots out of the lead Monday. She responded on the final day with the only sub-par round of the tournament, shooting a one-under 71 for a 145 total. She capped the tournament with a birdie on the 18^th hole.

Potee defeated local professionals Julia Potter and Junthima Gulyanamitta, who each tied for second at 147. In all there were 76 players in the field. The tournament took place at Heartland Crossing Golf Links in Camby, Ind., just outside of Indianapolis.

As a freshman this past season, Potee recorded KU’s fifth-best scoring average at 78.33 while playing in 10 of 11 tournaments. She was the Jayhawks’ top finisher at the Baylor Spring Invitational, placing 15^th.

In high school Potee lettered four years in golf and diving and was the individual state champion in both events as a senior.
