Jayhawks in Summer Action: July 1 Update

July 1, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas Amateur Qualifying

Former Jayhawk Pete Krsnich qualified for the 2009 Kansas Amateur by winning medalist honors at the Falcon Lakes qualifying site on June 30. Krsnich was joined by recent Jayhawk graduate Zach Pederson who fired a two-under par score of 70 to also qualify. The Kansas Amateur will be conducted July 27-August 2 at Kansas City Country Club.

Multiple current Jayhawks will attempt to qualify at the July 6 qualifier held at Lawrence Country Club. The 28-man field will send nine qualifiers to the 2009 Kansas Amateur.

Several Jayhawks, including head coach Kit Grove, were given exemptions courtesy of past Kansas Golf Association tournament placements. Grove won the 2009 Mid-Amateur Championship. Senior Patrick Roth and former Jayhawk Conrad Roberts were also awarded exemptions into the event.

Woodland Continues Improved Play

Former Jayhawk standout Gary Woodland recorded his eighth cut made of the 2009 PGA Tour season this past weekend at the Travelers Championship. Woodland fired three rounds under par and finished the event tied for 63rd place.

The previous week Woodland made the cut at the 2009 United States Open at Bethpaige Black and tied for 47th.
