Happy Fourth of July from Kansas Athletics and Vet Tickets

July 2, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

As Jayhawks across the country celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend, Kansas Athletics is showing its loyalty to and support of active and retired military personnel by donating football tickets to the Veteran Tickets Foundation.

A nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, the Veteran Tickets Foundation is dedicated to giving back to those who gave by providing free or discounted sporting event tickets to military personnel and their families.

Head Coach Turner Gill is honored to partner with the Veteran Tickets Foundation.

“Since joining KU, I have been overwhelmed by the passion, spirit and generosity of Jayhawk fans, donors and alumni. This season we have an opportunity to combine those elements and thank our servicemen and women by partnering with Veteran Tickets.”

Jayhawk fans can purchase Tier 2 ($299) or Tier 3 ($199) football season tickets and donate them to the Veteran Tickets Foundation. All ticket donations are 100% tax deductible. Upon completing a KU football Veteran Tickets purchase, fans will receive tax deductible information by email from the Veteran Tickets Foundation and their ticket will be donated to military personnel each game.

Tax benefits are available for new ticket purchases only and no Williams Educational Fund priority points are credited for the purchase of a KU football Veteran Ticket.

Almost 100 KU football Veteran Tickets have already been purchased by current season ticket holders. In addition, Kansas Athletics will donate a minimum of 1,000 tickets to the Veteran Tickets Foundation over the course of the 2010 season.
