Camp Mission<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Seventh year Head Coach Ray Bechard is the director of the Kansas Volleyball Camps. The purpose of the skills camp is to develop the fundamental skills of volleyball, as well as the strategies for offense and defense. The purpose of the one-day clinics is to give you an opportunity to train specifically in a position.

Skills Camp

The emphasis of the individual skills camp is to teach and develop the fundamental techniques of volleyball, as well as game strategies. Basic skills are stressed in drills while team play is incorporated to teach how all the fundamentals fit in the game. Campers will be evaluated in all skills and receive a camp notebook detailing the camp’s training methods. This camp is open to athletes entering grades 6 – 12 in the of Fall 2005. These camps offer a team camp option meaning that athletes attending from the same school can play together on the same league team. Campers will compete in the equivalent of 10 league and tournament matches.

Setting, Hitting and Defensive Specialist Clinics

We are extending an invitation for position specific clinics. Athletes who are entering grades 6-12 in 2005 will receive instruction and training for one entire day. The clinic will run from 9 am to 4 pm with one hour off for lunch. Please bring your own lunch.

Kansas coach Ray Bechard

Ray Bechard recently completed his sixth consecutive winning season as the Head Coach of the Kansas Jayhawks. This season the Hawks earned a bid to the NCAA tournament for the 2nd time in program history, as well as advancing to the second round. His overall record of 839 wins and 153 losses includes 13 years at Barton Community College and seven years at the University of Kansas. “I encourage you to participate in the Jayhawk Volleyball camp experience. It will allow you to make gains not only in your technical skills, but will also expose you to many other important aspects of becoming the best student-athlete you can be. We limit the number of participants so our staff can help you on an individual basis to reach your goals. I’ll see you at camp.”
