July 7, 2010

Kansas women’s basketball, Hoops2Heels and the Willow Domestic Violence Center in Lawrence are joining forces to host the “WE SHARE” Drive to help collect items that are in immediate and on-going need for the shelter. The drive will be held from 9-11 a.m., Saturday July 10 in the parking lot located directly to the south of Allen Fieldhouse.

The Kansas women’s basketball players will be on site to help collect items, greet donors and load the truck of items collected for the Willow Center, which provides safe-shelter, peer counseling, advocacy and other services to survivors of domestic violence in Douglas, Franklin and Southern Jefferson counties.

Immediate needs for the shelter are twin size sheets and blankets, pillows, hair conditioner, diapers, baby wipes, feminine hygiene products, large pots, table lamps and women’s under garments.

On-going needs for the shelter are seasonal items (kid pool, hose, bicycle pump, mosquito repellent, lawn chairs); personal products, household products (office/art supplies; miscellaneous).
