Kansas Fills Out Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas has completed its 2007-08 non-conference men’s basketball schedule, highlighted by a November 25 game in Lawrence against Arizona. That game will wrap up the six-team, round-robin Jayhawk Invitational.

Kansas will also play locals UMKC and Washburn, as well as Northern Arizona, in the Jayhawk Invitational. . Four teams – Kansas, Arizona, UMKC and Northern Arizona – will play four games in the Invitational, while Washburn and Adams State College, located in Alamosa, Colo., will play two games.

Last season Northern Arizona went 18-12 and tied Weber State for the Big Sky Conference regular-season title with an 11-5 record. The Lumberjacks are coached by Mike Adras, who has guided NAU to back-to-back Big Sky titles. Under new head coach Matt Brown, UMKC will be looking to improve on last season’s 12-20 record. The Kangaroos finished in a tie for fifth in the Mid Continent Conference with a 6-8 mark. Washburn veteran coach Bob Chipman, who has amassed more than 600 wins in his 29 seasons as a head coach, looks to improve the Ichabods from their 8-19 record last season, including 4-13 mark in the MIAA.

The Jayhawks’ non-conference schedule also includes a home game against DePaul, and visits to Southern Cal, Georgia Tech and Boston College. The USC contest has been moved to Sunday, Dec. 2. It was previously scheduled for Dec. 1. Kansas will also play in the new Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., December 15 against Ohio University.

The Big 12 Conference schedule and television information will be released later this summer.
