LAWRENCE, Kan. — Five home meets, including a date with perennial top-25 Minnesota and Border Showdown rival Missouri, highlight the 2005-06 University of Kansas swimming and diving schedule released Tuesday.

The team will open the season on Friday, Sept. 30, with its annual intrasquad meet at the Robinson Natatorium. Regular season action will get underway with a dual against the University of Minnesota on Saturday, Oct. 8.

“Our 2005-06 schedule has a strong mix of dual meets and invitationals to prepare us for the Big 12 and NCAA Championships,” head coach Clark Campbell said. “We start with a perennial top 25 program in Minnesota, and just keep the ball rolling. It should be a very exciting season that includes a lot of opportunities for great swimming and diving.”

KU will compete in the Big 12 Relays on Friday, Oct. 14, in Columbia, Mo. The Jayhawks will host duals versus Missouri (Oct. 28), Iowa and Missouri State (Nov. 4), Nebraska (Jan. 14) and Drury (Jan. 27), while taking to the road to compete against Truman State (Oct. 15), Iowa State (Feb. 3-4) and Harvard and Northeastern (Dec. 2-3) during the regular season. Kansas will also compete at the Minnesota Invite (Nov. 18-20).

The Jayhawks will take their winter training trip on Jan. 2-10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. KU will compete in the Florida Internatinoal Relays in Miami on Jan. 6 during the training trip.
