Robbins to Represent Canada in European Tour

MONTREAL – Kansas rising senior midfielder Sarah Robbins will represent her home country of Canada during an Under-20 National Team tour of Europe, beginning this weekend. Robbins was selected with 19 other players to participate after the Canadian U-20 National Team held a tryout camp earlier this month.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Robbins and the Canadian U-20 National team will play in two Women’s International Friendly matches in Europe, with a contest against Italy on July 14 in Verbania, Italy and a match against Switzerland on July 20 in Buochs, Switzerland.
Earlier this year, Canada qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Japan 2012 with a silver-medal performance at the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship. Canada will participate in its fifth FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup from Aug. 19 to Sept. 8.
Robbins was also a pool player for the U-17 Canadian National Team in 2008 and was invited to participate in the U-20 camp in 2010.
She has played in 35 matches during her time with the Jayhawks, logging over 1,500 minutes of field time. The senior is a four-time member of the Athletic Director’s and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls at KU.
