July 14, 2006

LAWRENCE, KAN. –

Kansas Athletics’ Assistant Media Relations Director Beau White has won “National Best Cover Award” for his 2005-06 women’s basketball game programs.

A national panel of college sports information directors bestowed the honor, which was announced at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Workshop held last week in Nashville, Tennessee.

CoSIDA also recognized several other KU staff members. Assistant Athletics Director for media relations Chris Theisen and assistant media relations director Laura Lesko brought home sixth place in the nation (and first in District VII) for their work on the 2005-06 men’s basketball media guide. And assistant media relations director Brandon Holtz, in his first year with the Jayhawks, finished sixth in the nation – and second in District VII – for his work on the 2006 Kansas Baseball media guide.

“Our media-relations staff is nationally respected for its hard work and creativity,” said KU Associate Director of Athletics Jim Marchiony. “We’re very proud of their effort, and happy that CoSIDA has recognized it.”
