Four Jayhawks Advance at the 97th Kansas Amateur

Four Jayhawks qualified for the match-play portion of the Kansas Amateur. The top 64 players out of the 300 person field advance to the single elimination match-play tournament. Gary Woodland tied for medalist honors after firing a second-round 72 and will enter match play as the number two seed.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Recently graduated Barrett Martens continued his solid play at the event by shooting a second-day 72 and will enter the match-play tournament as the number 36 seed. Zach Pederson shot a second-round 75 at Topeka Country Club and will serve as the number 55 seed.

Sophomore Patrick Roth escaped a 15-player playoff to secure the 62nd seed in the match-play bracket. Roth shot a second-round 75 and competed against 15 players for the remaining six spots in the match-play tournament. Senior Joey Mundy finished in 95th place after shooting a score of 79 in the second round of play.
