KU's Patrick Roth Finishes Runner-Up at 98th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship

WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas junior men’s golfer Patrick Roth fell to Cameron Bishop, 4 and 3, in the finals of the 98th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship at Wichita Country Club Sunday.

On Saturday, the 20th seeded Roth defeated fifth-seed Kenneth Wright, 1-up, in the quarterfinals, then eighth-seed Aaron Sheaks, 2 and 1, in the semifinals to advance to the 36-hole championship against No. 22-seed Bishop.

On Thursday, Roth, from Prairie Village, Kan., opened the event with a 4 and 3 win against William Snyder then a 6 and 5 victory over Kevin Quinley, who was later disqualified, to advance to the quarterfinals.
