KU's Grove and Gilbert Tied For Second at Kansas Amateur

Kansas men’s golf coach Kit Grove and KU junior Chris Gilbert are only three-shots back of the lead following the first 18-holes of play at the 101st Kansas Amateur Championship. Grove and Gilbert trail K-State golfer Kyle Smell after posting four-under par 68’s at Hallbrook Country Club in Leawood, Kan., Monday afternoon. Incoming KU freshman David Auer is also in the field posting a one-under 71 during the first round of stroke play. The second round is scheduled to continue Wednesday, July 20th, with Gilbert teeing off at 1:50 p.m. and Auer at 2:10 p.m. Grove is the final Jayhawk to tee off Wednesday at 2:40 p.m.
Once the second round of stroke play qualifying is completed, the field will be cut to the lowest scoring 64 players for a single elimination match play bracket.
