LAWRENCE, Kan. –

University of Kansas sophomore Emily Brown (Baldwin City, Kan.) was one of 14 student-athletes from around the nation selected to train with the USA Volleyball Women’s Junior National Team July 13-18 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Brown, a 6-2 outside hitter/setter at KU, was selected from a tryout she attended in February for the Junior National Team. The group of 14 athletes chosen to train are all considered alternates for the Junior National Team, which will compete in the FIVB Junior Women’s U-20 Volleyball World Championships July 23-31 in Ankara, Turkey.

In her freshman season at KU, Brown was one of only three Jayhawks to start all 31 matches and averaged 2.45 digs and 2.12 kills per game in her rookie season.

The group of alternates, all ages 19 and under, featured players from California, Arizona, Nebraska, Kansas, Michigan, Illinois, Arkansas and other states. The squad was coached by Brian Hosfield (Texas), Louella Lovely (Notre Dame) and Ken Ko (Washington State).
