Kansas Announces 2011 Football Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan.– A road game at Georgia Tech highlights Kansas Football’s 2011 non-conference schedule. The Jayhawks will travel to Atlanta Sept. 17 after opening the season with two home games.

KU’s season will kickoff against an as-yet undetermined opponent on Sept. 3. The Jayhawks will then host Northern Illinois on Sept. 10. The matchup against the Huskies will be the first of two meetings between the teams; the Jayhawks will play in DeKalb in 2012

The game at Georgia Tech will conclude a two-game series between the programs, which includes a game in Lawrence Oct. 2, 2010.

The Jayhawks will finish non-conference play hosting UTEP on Sept. 24. Kansas is playing at UTEP this season (Sept. 12, 6:30 p.m. on CBS College Sports Network).

Kansas will then play its eight Big 12 games, beginning with a home game against Baylor on Oct. 1, a bye week and then its first road league game at Kansas State on Oct. 15.

Kansas and Northern Illinois have met once before, a 37-34 Husky victory in Lawrence in 1983. Georgia Tech defeated Kansas, 20-14, in the 1948 Orange Bowl, the only meeting between the two schools. UTEP and Kansas will meet for the first time in 2009.
