Jayhawks in the Pros Update: Brittany Hile

July 21, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Jayhawk softball player, Brittany Hile, continues to add to her professional playing experience as she begins her second month with the NPF Diamonds of the National Pro Fastpitch league.

Selected 15th overall in the National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft by the Diamonds last March, Hile was a standout behind the plate for Kansas during her four-year Jayhawk career. The Olathe, Kan., native finished at KU with the program’s fifth-most home runs (23) and eighth-most RBIs (93).

The two-time Academic All-Big 12 member also put up KU’s fourth-highest slugging percentage (.637) during her senior campaign, making her case for NFCA All-Region Second Team honors at the conclusion of her time at Kansas.

Nearly two months into her professional career, Hile has started more than half of the Diamonds’ 22 games. After posting a career-best 13 bombs in her senior season at KU, Hile hit her first professional homerun in her second game of the summer on June 12 against the Akron Racers.

Hile helped NPF (4-18) kick off the season with a three-game win streak before the team hit a rough patch in July. The Diamonds now head to Round Rock, Texas for a four-game series against the Akron Racers, July 22-23.
