Gill's First Pitch Highlights 'KU Day at the K'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –

Kansas head football coach Turner Gill and 10 members of the football team took part in “KU Day at the K” on Saturday as the Kansas City Royals helped promote the upcoming football season at Kauffman Stadium.

Gill threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Royals and Rays baseball game, while members of the team signed autographs for fans. Gill as well as Director of Athletics Sheahon Zenger also appeared on the Royals’ television and radio broadcasts during the game.

The list of players at the game included: seniors, quarterback Quinn Mecham, tight end Ted McNulty, cornerback Isiah Barfield, offensive lineman Michael Martinovich, linebacker Steven Johnson, cornerback Anthony Davis, linebacker Brian Blackwell, defensive tackle Richard Johnson, tight end Tim Biere and junior offensive lineman Jeff Spikes.

The team will take part in Big 12 Football Media Day on Tuesday in Dallas, Texas before reporting to campus on Aug. 3. The team’s first official practice of the season is scheduled for Aug. 4.
