Online Voting for "TitleTown USA" Ends July 27

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Jayhawk fans now have a chance to help Lawrence become “TitleTown USA”.

Fan voting on ESPN.com will determine the winning community. Voting begins Wednesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. CST and runs through Sunday, July 27. Lawrence is one of 20 finalists for the honor.

The live, televised announcement of the “TitleTown USA” winner on SportsCenter previously scheduled to air Sunday, July 27 has been moved to Monday, July 28, at 5 p.m. CST, it was announced by Glenn Jacobs, ESPN senior coordinating producer, studio production.

“This change gives us more time to put in place additional production elements that will conclude `TitleTown USA’ on SportsCenter in a manner befitting the tremendous response and fan-engagement the program has generated,” said Jacobs, who is overseeing the SportsCenter initiative.

Online voting on ESPN.com is the only way SportsCenter’s “TitleTown USA” will be determined, as fans will have the opportunity to select the winner from among the 20 communities (cities, towns and municipalities) in the finals. Visit http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/titletown/index to view ESPN.com’s “TitleTown USA” conversation page and vote. Fans can vote one time per computer throughout the duration of the voting.

Joining Lawrence as finalists are the cities of Green Bay, Wis., Pittsburgh, Pa., Knoxville, Tenn., Chapel Hill, N.C., Los Angeles, Calif., Palo Alto, Calif., Louisville, Ky., Chicago, Ill., Boston, Mass., Gainesville, Fla., New York, N.Y., Valdosta, Ga., Detroit, Mich., San Francisco, Calif., Williamsport, Pa., Ann Arbor, Mich., Columbus, Ohio, Parkersburg, W.Va., and Massillon, Ohio.

SportsCenter aired daily community profiles from July 4 through July 23, celebrating one finalist each day. The profiles, showcasing the accomplishments of the teams, athletes and their fans who have contributed to each community’s success in sports, began with Green Bay, and concluded with Massillon, Ohio.
