POSITION TITLE: Sports Equipment Manager

STARTING DATE: August 4, 2008

APPOINTMENT: Full-time

DUTIES: Responsible for ordering, receiving, marking, fitting. distributing, washing and repairing uniforms and equipment to student-athletes and coaches of assigned sports. Supervising student managers and interns along with scheduling, servicing and maintaining the Athletics’ fleet of vans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree. Detailed oriented with strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work nights and weekends and in various weather conditions; willingness to travel and to operate motor vehicles; capacity to lift heavy objects (app. 75 lbs.); at least one year of experience with maintenance of sports equipment and apparel; basic computer knowledge; ability to supervise personnel; certification in the Athletic Equipment Managers’ Association (AEMA) or the qualifications to be certified within one year. Valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED: Masters Degree; 3 years experience working at an NCAA institution in equipment services; advanced knowledge of athletic apparel / equipment, NCAA rules / regulations, and OSHA standards for the treatment / handling of blood-borne pathogens.
