GLASGOW, Scotland – Kansas sophomore midfielder Liana Salazar and sophomore forward Ingrid Vidal both played in Colombia’s Group G opener at the 2012 Olympic Games Wednesday evening. However, the Colombians dropped their first decision of the Olympics, 2-0, to Korea DPR.

Salazar, a midfielder from Bogota, Colombia, started the matched and played 76 minutes, while Vidal, a forward from Palmira, Colombia, substituted during the final minutes of the first half. Colombia was making its Olympic debut in the match.

Both players are veterans to soccer at the international level as Salazar and Vidal both played for the Colombian national team during the 2011 World Cup in Germany.

The loss dropped the Colombians to 0-1 in group play with matches against the United States (July 28) and France (July 31) on the horizon. In order to advance to the next stage, Colombia would likely need to win both matches.
