Coach Mangino to Speak at Kickoff Rally on Aug. 18
LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas Alumni Association and Kansas Athletics will host a KU Kickoff Rally, featuring Head Football Coach Mark Mangino, Friday, August 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Corinth Square (83rd and Mission Rd.) parking lot in Prairie Village, Kan. The rally will be free of charge to all University alumni, friends and students.
Mangino will share the latest football news, along with his outlook for the season. The rally will include an inflatable fun zone for kids, along with appearances from emcee and KU alumnus John Holt of Fox 4 News, the KU Spirit Squad, KU Pep Band and Big Jay mascot. KCSP 610 Sports Radio, the new Jayhawk Radio Network affiliate for KU in Kansas City, will broadcast live from the rally.
Food vendors will be on hand and Alumni Association members who show their membership cards will receive a free hamburger or slice of pizza from Johnny’s Tavern. Everyone who signs up to become an Alumni Association member at the event will be entered in a drawing to receive an autographed football and all attendees will have a chance to win four tickets to the Homecoming game vs. Texas A&M. After the program, guests can stay to enjoy the sounds of local band Recess.
The Jayhawks will play seven home games in Memorial Stadium in 2006. Public season tickets are $225. Faculty-staff season tickets are $180 and recent graduate packages are $150 (2004-06 graduation date). Family-Zone packages are also available for $300. The Family-Zone, located in the North Bowl, includes two adult and two youth general admission tickets.
