NEW ORLEANS – Two Kansas track and field athletes received academic honors by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday. KU’s Eric Fattig and Mason Finley were two athletes of a total of 357 to be named to the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic team.

Fattig, a senior and an All-American long jumper out Kearny, Neb., was one of just nine student-athletes to record a 4.0 GPA. Sophomore-to-be Finley, out of Salida, Colo., is a three-time All-American earning the honor indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the shot put and discus.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
