Jayhawks Touch Down In Australia

SYDNEY, Australia –

After nearly 30 hours of traveling, the University of Kansas women’s basketball team finally made it to their destination of Sydney, Australia at approximately 8 a.m. on Monday morning in the Harbour City.

Upon arrival, the Jayhawks gathered their belongings and cleared customs before heading out on a bus tour of the city. The first stop was Bondi Beach where the team scattered for some breakfast. Bondi Beach sits 15 minutes from the center of Sydney and is considered one of the world’s most perfect beaches. The waterfront scene was complete with street musicians, surf shops and discos and is a popular summer location.

Next up for the Jayhawks was a quick tour of the city, taking in such locations as Darling Harbour, Sydney Tower, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the famous Sydney Opera House. The team exited the bus for some picture taking, but will do more in depth sight seeing of the city on Tuesday.

With the conclusion of the bus tour, the team headed to their hotel to get some rest and prepare for their first game, which will be played against the Sutherland Sharks on Tuesday evening.
