Kansas Football To Meet Ranked Teams In 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Turner Gill’s first Kansas football team will meet two teams listed in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Preseason Poll, as well as three others receiving votes this season. The poll was released Friday.

The Jayhawks will travel to No. 9 Nebraska and host No. 17 Georgia Tech. Teams KU will face listed in others receiving votes include Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.

Last year Kansas played two ranked teams in No. 25 Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas. KU’s last victory against a ranked team was its 40-37 win vs. Missouri in 2008. The Tigers were ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press poll.

Defending national champion Alabama is listed first in the preseason poll, followed by Ohio State, Florida, Texas and Boise State. Big 12 teams listed include No. 4 Texas, No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 9 Nebraska. Big 12 schools receiving votes include Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.

Kansas will open the 2010 season hosting North Dakota State on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at www.kuathletics.com.
