Mangino To Speak At KU Football Kickoff Rally In Kansas City On August 17

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas Athletics and the University of Kansas Alumni Association will host a KU Kickoff Rally, featuring Head Football Coach Mark Mangino, Friday, August 17, from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Corinth Square (83rd and Mission Rd.) parking lot in Prairie Village, Kan. The rally will be free of charge to all University alumni, friends and students.

Last year’s event drew between 2,000 and 3,000 fans, and an even larger turnout is expected this year.

Coach Mangino will share the latest KU football news, along with his outlook for the season. The rally will include an inflatable fun zone for kids, along with appearances from emcee Marty Wall of 610 Sports Radio, Max Falkenstien, the KU Spirit Squad, KU Pep Band and Big Jay and Baby Jay mascots.

Food vendors will be on hand and Alumni Association members who show their membership cards will receive a free hamburger from Johnny’s Tavern. Guests will enjoy lots of freebies and drawings and can stay to enjoy the sounds of local band Recess.

The Kansas Athletics Ticket Office will be on hand for those wishing to purchase 2007 season or single-game tickets. Kansas opens the season hosting Central Michigan on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. Reserved season tickets are $275, faculty-staff tickets are $220, recent graduate packages are $200 (graduated between 2005-07), and a Family Plan, which includes two adult and two youth tickets, is $350.
