Reesing And Briscoe Land On Maxwell Award Watch List

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Two Kansas football players were named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the nation’s most outstanding player. Senior quarterback Todd Reesing and junior wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe both made the list of 55 players.

Reesing, a 5-11, 200-pounder from Austin, Texas, is also on preseason watch lists for the Walter Camp, Davey O’Brien and Johnny Unitas Awards. He is entering his third year as a starter and has thrown for 7,578 yards and 68 touchdowns in his first 29 games, which includes 26 starts.

Briscoe, a 6-3, 202-pounder from Dallas, Texas, is also on the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top wide receiver. Briscoe has played 26 games in his two-year KU career and already has 135 career receptions, 1,903 career yards, and 22 career touchdowns.

Briscoe was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection, as well as an SI.com All-America Honorable Mention pick in 2008.

Dezmon Briscoe had 92 catches for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2008.
