KU Freshman Set to Compete at World Junior Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Freshman pole vaulter Brittany Parker will compete in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing, China Wednesday during the morning session. The McKinney, Texas, native is scheduled to participate in the “B” qualifying group of the competition.

For the 2006 season, Parker’s best effort came on June 23 in Indianapolis, Ind., when she cleared 13 feet (3.96 meters). Her career-best jump came on June 23, 2005, when she cleared 13 feet, five inches (4.12 meters) in Dallas.

If she qualifies, Parker will compete in the finals of the competition on Friday in the first event of the afternoon session.
