Football Fan Appreciation and Kids Day Set for August 23

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas football team will host its annual Fan Appreciation and Kids Day Wed., Aug. 23, at Memorial Stadium. Fans will be admitted to the stadium at 5:30 p.m. to watch the conclusion of the team’s practice. Head Coach Mark Mangino will then address the crowd. Following the workout, all children will be invited to participate in drills and stretching exercises. At the conclusion of practice, Jayhawk fans have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from KU players and coaches on the field.

Parking for Fan Appreciation and Kids Day is free in all lots adjacent to Memorial Stadium after 5 p.m. Please note that all fans will be asked to enter the stadium on the west side only.

The Fun Zone will open at 5 p.m. on the southeast side of the stadium. While supplies last, fans may pick up free mini Jayhawk schedule footballs, posters, schedule cards, and other KU promotional items.

The west side ticket office at Memorial Stadium will be open during the event for those wishing to purchase 2006 season tickets. Kansas opens the season Sept. 2 in Memorial Stadium against Northwestern State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The Jayhawks will play seven home games in Memorial Stadium in 2006. Public season tickets are $225. Faculty-staff season tickets are $180 and recent graduate packages are $150 (2004-06 graduation date). Family-Zone packages are also available for $300. The Family -Zone, located in the North Bowl, includes two adult and two youth general admission tickets. Fans can purchase their 2006 tickets online at www.kuathletics.com or by contacting the ticket office at 800-34-HAWKS.

The Kid’s Fun Zone will open at 5 p.m. on the southeast side of the stadium
