More Than 3,500 Attend KU Kickoff Rally In Prairie Village

Prairie Village, Kan. –

Kansas head football coach Mark Mangino was the featured speaker at the annual Kansas Athletics and University of Kansas Alumni Association-sponsored KU Kickoff Rally in Prairie Village, Kan. on Friday night.

The nearly three and one-half hour event included an inflatable fun zone for kids, food and drink, freebies and drawings, along with appearances by former broadcaster Max Falkenstien, the KU Spirit Squad, the KU Pep Band and Big Jay and Baby Jay mascots.
An estimated 3,500 fans attended the event, which generated excitement about the upcoming football season. The Jayhawks open the year hosting Central Michigan on Sept.1 at 6 p.m.

Reserved season tickets are $275, faculty-staff tickets are $220, recent graduate packages are $200 (graduated between 2005-07), and a Family Plan, which includes two adult and two youth tickets, is $350.

The football team will hold its annual Fan Appreciation and Kids Day at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, August 22. Fans will be admitted to the stadium at 5:30 p.m. to watch the conclusion of the team’s practice. Head Coach Mark Mangino and team members will then address the crowd.

Following the workout, all children will be invited onto Kivisto Field to participate in drills and stretching exercises. At the conclusion of practice, Jayhawk fans have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from KU players and coaches on the field.
