KU Alums and Fans Roll Out for KU Kickoff Rally in K.C.

Aug. 18, 2006

More than 2,300 Kansas football alumni and fans converged at Corinth Square in Prairie Village, Kan., for the KU Kickoff Rally Friday evening sponsored by the Kansas Alumni Association and Kansas Athletics.

Alums and fans were treated to speeches by head coach Mark Mangino and longtime KU broadcaster Max Falkenstien. Members of the KU spirit squads – cheer and dance teams – performed, as did the KU pep band. Children were able to play in jump houses and obstacle courses and pose for photos with Big Jay and Baby Jay.

Food vendors were on hand and Alumni Association members received free hamburgers and slices of pizza from Johnny’s Tavern, located in Corinth Square. There were drawings for prizes sponsored by the Kansas Alumni Association as well. After the program, the local band Recess performed.
