Handrigan Added to Kansas Men's Golf Program

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
John Handrigan has been named as the Kansas men’s golf assistant coach it was announced by Jayhawk head coach Kit Grove on Tuesday.
Handrigan coached both the men’s and women’s golf programs at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. for two seasons and was recently named the 2008-09 Women’s Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
“We are very excited to have John join the program and we are looking forward to having his energy and organizational skills added to the program,” Grove said.
Prior to coaching at Queens University, Handrigan served as head coach at Coker where he was named 2006 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
“I am very honored and grateful for the opportunity to join the Kansas men’s golf program,” said Handrigan. “I am excited to start working with Coach Grove and the members of the team.”
Handrigan played collegiately at Saint Francis University for four years. While playing at Saint Francis, Handrigan was named the 2000 Male Student Athlete of the Year. Handrigan served as the assistant coach at Saint Francis while in graduate school.
“John has a very solid recruiting background and I think getting another set of eyes to help our guys will help the program,” Grove said.
Handrigan is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America, serves on the PING All-Region Selection Committee and is a NCAA Registered Recruiter.
