Aug. 20, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas head coach Mark Mangino invited the public to watch the last part of his Jayhawk football team’s practice and then get autographs from selected players on Wednesday night. A good crowd was on hand to see the Jayhawks finish their training camp practices.

The team will have the day off on Thursday for the first day of school before resuming workouts on Friday as KU prepares for its season opener. The Jayhawks open the year against Florida International at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 30 at 6 p.m.

After the practice Mangino addressed the crowd before introducing the team’s captains for 2008. The captains include center Ryan Cantrell, linebacker Joe Mortensen, quarterback Todd Reesing and linebacker Mike Rivera. Reesing is a junior while the other three are seniors.
