Kansas Football Listed 13th In FWAA Preseason Poll

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After earning a preseason ranking of 13th in the USA Today/Coaches Poll and 14th in the Associated Press listing, the Kansas football team found itself ranked 13th by the Football Writer’s Association of America in their Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll, which was announced on Thursday.

The Big 12 Conference has a league-high five teams ranked with Oklahoma fourth, Missouri sixth, Texas 11th, Kansas 13th and Texas Tech 14th. The Southeastern Conference has four teams ranked, including number two Georgia, number five Florida, number eight LSU and number nine Auburn.

USC tops the poll for the fourth time in the last five years of the preseason listings. Members of the FWAA board and its All-America committee vote in the poll. The Grantland Rice Trophy has been awarded to the national champion since 1954. Rice was a legendary sportswriter.
