Jayhawks Set Regional Marks

Manhattan, Kan. – A total of five Jayhawks set NCAA regional qualifying marks this weekend at the Ward Haylett Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. The meet offered the ‘Hawks a last chance to qualify, or improve their qualification efforts, for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in College Station, Texas on May 28-29.

Junior Sondra Rauterkus finished third in the high jump with a regional qualifying height of 5-08. Sophomore Charisse Bacchus recorded a fourth place finish in the long jump with a regional mark of 20-03. Senior Jamie Waters posted a regional qualifying distance of 173-10 to finish fifth in the hammer throw, while junior Megan Foster finished third in the javelin with a regional mark of 142-01.

KU junior Brandon Hodges posted a season-best, regional qualifying time of 1:50.32 in the 800-meter run. Hodges finished eighth overall in the race.

Senior Leo Bookman ran unattached and won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash titles. Bookman recorded a time of 10.30 in the 100-meter dash and raced to victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.10.
