Whittemore Inks With Atlanta

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former University of Kansas quarterback Bill Whittemore agreed to a free-agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons, his agent announced Thursday.

Whittemore finished his Jayhawk career with 310 pass completions (sixth place all-time at KU) on 568 attempts (seventh place) for 4,051 yards (sixth place). He also ended up in fourth place with 5,134 yards of total offense in his career, and set the KU career record for touchdowns responsible for with 50.

A native of Brentwood, Tenn., Whittemore reports to the Falcons May 16 and begins training camp in late July. He joins former Jayhawks Adrian Jones (Jets) and Curtis Ansel (Lions) as KU players to hook up with NFL teams this spring. (5/6/04)
