LAWRENCE, KAN. — Despite overcast skies and some light sprinkles, the University of Kansas football team hosted its annual Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday at Memorial Stadium. Fans arrived at the stadium at 5 p.m. to watch the conclusion of the team’s practice before head coach Mark Mangino introduced the team captains to the estimated 1,500 fans in attendance. Following the practice, fans took photos and collected autographs from KU players and coaches.

Kansas opens the season Sept. 3 in Memorial Stadium against Florida Atlantic. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to that game by calling 800-34-HAWKS or on the internet at
