Freshman Competes Well at Zone Diving

March 13, 2004

HOUSTON, Texas – University of Kansas freshman diver Shelby Noonan finished 12th in the one-meter and three-meter competition at the Zone D Diving Championships. Noonan recorded scores of 453.73 in the one-meter and 418.40 in the three-meter.

Noonan holds the top scores in the one-meter and three-meter events for KU this season.

“This was a tough, talented field,” diving coach Brad Szurgot said. “The judging panel was very critical and was not lenient. I was happy with her performance as a freshman. She has gained a ton of experience and impressed a lot of coaches at this meet. I am excited to see what she can do in her future years at Kansas.”

This meet concludes the year for the diving team. Junior Amy Gruber will represent the swim team at the NCAA Championships in College Station, March 20-22.
