Gruber Claims Two Top-30 Finishes

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Kansas swimmer Amy Gruber competed in the 100 butterfly, March 19, and the 100 freestyle, March 20, at the 2004 NCAA Swimming Championships.

Gruber swam in the 100 butterfly finishing in 24th place and setting a new personal best time. She swam the event in a time of 1:01.09.

The Bigelow, Ark. native, placed 26th in the 100 freestyle, clocking in with a time of 55.83. She started the event seeded 45th and was able to move up 19 spots.

“Her butterfly swim was real solid,” Kansas coach Clark Campbell said. “Amy had another good swim this morning. We will now move onward and upward to the Aggie Invitational.”

Gruber will compete in the Aggie Invitational on Sunday, March 21. The event will be in short course meters and give her an opportunity to receive Olympic trial cuts in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
