Swimming And Diving Tabbed As Academic All-American Squad

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas swimming and diving team was honored as an Academic All-American squad, as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America March 31.

The KU team received an Academic All-America honor by turning in an overall GPA of 3.20, ranking them 42nd among all Division I institutions and second among Big 12 schools.

Senior Kim Bolin and junior Aly Colver both earned 4.0 GPA’s in the fall semester of 2003 to help the team’s high mark.

“Every semester, one of our goals, aside from competing in the pool, is to succeed in the classroom,” head coach Clark Campbell said. “We want to be selected as Academic All-Americans by CSCAA.”

To qualify for these honors CSCAA put forth criteria each student-athlete and team must meet. Academic All-American teams must have an average GPA above 2.80. Once qualification is established teams are ranked accordingly. Individual Academic All-Americans must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and qualify for the NCAA Championships. Honorable mention Academic All-Americans must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.
