Docking Advances At U.S. Amateur

MAMARONECK, NY –

University of Kansas golfer Tyler Docking advanced to the second round of the 2004 U.S. Amateur at Winged Foot in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

Docking, who is ranked 21st in the tournament, defeated Brendan Hester 3 and 2 to advance to the round of 32. The Overland Park, Kan. native will tee off on Thursday at 8:40 a.m. against No. 53 Madalitso Muthiya of Zambia.

“We are delighted about how the day went for Tyler today,” Kansas head coach Ross Randall said. “I am happy for him and I hope that this will be a breakthrough tournament for him.”

The tournament began with 312 players trying to qualify for match play. Docking shot back-to-back rounds of 73 to place 17th out of the 64 qualifiers.
