Kansas Men's Basketball to Hold Public Scrimmage Prior to Volleyball Exhibition Match

LAWRENCE, Kan. – In preparation for the upcoming Canada trip, the Kansas men’s basketball team will have a scrimmage open to the public on August 28, at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center, university officials announced Thursday.

The scrimmage will begin at 4 p.m. and will precede the KU Varsity-Alumni volleyball exhibition match, which will start at 7 p.m. Both events are free to the public.

The capacity of the Horejsi Family Athletics Center is 1,300. The doors will be closed once capacity is met. Doors open at Horejsi at 2:30 p.m.

The Jayhawks will face four teams over a three-day span in and around Vancouver on their preseason swing. The trip will begin Sept. 4 as KU takes on the University of British Columbia at 2 p.m. (Central). The following day KU will play Langara College at 1 p.m. and University College of the Fraser Valley All-Stars at 9 p.m. The tour will conclude Sept. 6 against the Burnaby Mountain All-Stars at 12:30 p.m.

Deadline for fans interested in purchasing tickets for the Canada is Wednesday, August 25, at 5 p.m. Those interested in purchasing tickets should call the KU Ticket Office at 1-800-34-HAWKS.

The KU volleyball team returns 10 letterwinners from last season’s NCAA Tournament team which advanced to the second round of the event. Included is middle blocker Josi Lima, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, league preseason newcomer of the year Paula Caten, and the conference preseason freshman of the year Emily Brown.
