Kansas Hires Diving Coach

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas head swimming and diving coach Clark Campbell announced the hiring of a new diving coach Eric Elliott, Wednesday, May 26. He replaces former diving coach Brad Szurgot.

“I am very excited to be a part of a great athletic department and swimming and diving team hear at Kansas,” Elliott said. “I am looking forward to the challenges of improving the diving team and making it competitive in the Big 12 and the NCAA.”

Elliott was most recently the head women’s diving coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Before his stop in Louisiana he spent eight years in Athens, Georgia where he ran an age group diving program. During his time there he had a diver in Junior Nationals and one that qualified to represent the Junior U.S. Diving team. His teams finished as high as 13th in the country. Elliott was a volunteer assistant at the University of Georgia from 1996-2003. He was the head coach at Virginia Tech from 1994-95 and at Old Dominion from 1993-94.

“We are extremely pleased Eric has joined our staff,” Campbell said. “He comes from a great background and brings such enthusiasm to the sport. Eric’s experience and expertise will help our diving program grow to new levels.”
