KU Swimmers Among Nation's Finest

July 6, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas Swimming and Diving squad recorded the 14th-best team grade point average in the nation in a release issued by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). KU’s team GPA of 3.39 during the 2003-04 academic year was the highest among all Big 12 swimming and diving teams and the eighth-best among all public universities.

The team’s 3.39 GPA was the best of any sport at KU during the past year and also marked the highest GPA ever posted by the KU swimmers and divers.

In addition, four KU swimmers — Aly Colver, Kim Bolin, Miranda Isaac and Jackie Krueger — were named CSCAA honorable mention All-America. Both Colver and Bolin recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs.

“One of our most important team goals each semester is the Academic All-America selection by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America,” said KU head coach Clark Campbell. “With our team-record 3.39 GPA, we were able to achieve a top 15 ranking among all NCAA I universities and the highest mark in the Big 12. Kim, Aly, Miranda and Jackie selection’s as honorable mention Academic All-American is equally exciting. Much of the credit goes to Laura Jacobsen, our academic advisor, for leading our team in classroom excellence.”
