Woodland Advances in FedEx Cup

Aug. 27, 2011

Former Kansas golfer Gary Woodland shot a 6-under 65 Saturday to finish in a tie for 13th at The Barclays, the first event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedEx Cup. His 65 came one day after he carded a 5-under 66.

Woodland finished 12 under par, seven strokes behind the winner, Dustin Johnson. The PGA shortened the event, located in Edison, N.J., to 54 holes because of the impending arrival of Hurricane Irene.

Woodland advances to the second playoff event, the Deutsche Bank Championship, next weekend near Boston, Mass.
